Roberto Martínez is since August 3, 2016 coach of the Belgian national team with whom he won the bronze medal at World Cup 2018 in Russia.
His playing career started in his hometown Balaguer from where he moved to Real Zaragoza. At the age of 22 he left Spain for a football carreer in the UK which took him to Wigan Athletic, Motherwell, Walsall and Swansea City where he started his coaching career in 2007. Later on he moved to Wigan Atheltic with whom he won the FA Cup in 2013. Although relegated that season with Wigan, this trophy led him to Everton. He was manager of the Toffees for nearly three years before moving to Belgium
